Questions

Q1. What will I need my first day of school?

Each child has their own personal cubby. In their cubby, we ask that they keep a full change of clothing for any spills or accidents that may occur. We also require a sheet and a blanket for nap time. Any other items you feel are necessary to comfort your child are, of course, welcome.

Q2. What does Smart Start Academy provide in terms of meal?

We provide three nutritious meals per day such as breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack to our students at no additional cost. Weekly menu is displayed at the public areas within the facility.

Q3. How will I know about my child’s day?

A daily sheet for the parents will be provided each day. The chart will include information such as; how your child ate, how your child slept, and any other pertinent information. The classroom teacher is also available for you to speak to at your convenience.

Q4. What is the discipline policy?

Smart Start Academy promotes and uses Guidelines for Positive Discipline. Acceptable behavior is encouraged by giving positive verbal rewards. This reinforces a child’s good feeling about his/her behavior and serves as an example to the other children. For a child not listening or cooperating, the child is seated by a teacher and reminded of acceptable behavior. The next tactic used for a child who is continually demonstrating unacceptable behavior is a period of time out. This time out is not a punishment, but a time for the child to calm down and remember what is acceptable behavior.

*If behavioral problems persist, the parents will be notified.
