Frequently Asked Questions
Each child has their own personal cubby. In their cubby, we ask that they keep a full change of clothing for any spills or accidents that may occur. We also require a sheet and a blanket for nap time. Any other items you feel are necessary to comfort your child are, of course, welcome.
We provide three nutritious meals per day such as breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack to our students at no additional cost. Weekly menu is displayed at the public areas within the facility.
The classroom teacher is also available for you to speak to at your convenience and there will also be access to the ProCare application. The app will provide you with a snapshot of your child’s day, including their activities, diapering (if applicable), meals, and naptime. The teachers are also able to send you pictures during the day of your child through the app.
Smart Start Academy promotes and uses Guidelines for Positive Discipline. Acceptable behavior is encouraged by giving positive verbal rewards. This reinforces a child’s good feeling about his/her behavior and serves as an example to the other children. For a child not listening or cooperating, the child is seated by a teacher and reminded of acceptable behavior. The next tactic used for a child who is continually demonstrating unacceptable behavior is a period of time out. This time out is not a punishment, but a time for the child to calm down and remember what is acceptable behavior.
*If behavioral problems persist, the parents will be notified.
